Draws & Schedule
Based on the number of entries received before the registration end date, the schedule would be designed by positioning players based on random draws.
It would be a knock-off format starting with Round of 64.
Players need to be committed to arrive at a consensus about place and time, and complete their matches before the end date scheduled for each round. In case of no consensus, the organizing committee’s decision on place and time will be final.
Match Play Rules
1. Eligibility requirements:
- Singles format is for the age group of 16-25 yrs.
- Doubles format is for the age group of 26 yrs and above
If the opponent needs to validate the age, they can request for an ID. Giving a consent to these rules also intrinsically means consent for ID verification.
2. Rules
- Follow the USTA Code for all rules except those mentioned in this document: THE CODE The Players' Guide to Fair Play and the Unwritten Rules of Tennis
3. Scoring
- Match results for both formats (singles and doubles) are based on “best of 3 sets”, the first two being full sets, and the third set is decided by a 12 point tie-breaker (7 point high).
-
The match is timed to maximum of 90 mins and if the match is incomplete at 80th minute, the winner will be decided based on:
- If A has won first set and leading in second set, A will be treated as the winner
-
If A has won the first set, and B is leading the second set, B would be considered to have won the second set. Hence, play a 12 point tie break (7 point high) for the third set to decide the winner. At the end of 90th minute, if the tie break is incomplete:
- The player with a lead in tie-break wins
- If the tie break is in equal standing, play the decider point to decide the winner
- If A and B are in tie in second set, play a 12 point tie break (7 point high) to decide the winner of second set
- Third set is always a 12 point tie break (7 point high)
4. Balls
- a. Only USTA approved balls from Babolat, Dunlop, Prince, Penn, Wilson, Diadem should be used
- b.Matches must be played with new can of balls only
- c. Both players (for Singles) or teams(for Doubles) should bring a new can of balls to the match. The loser(s) of the match will take with them the can used during the match. Winner will take the unopened can for the next match
5. Playing the match
- a. The location of the court and time can be mutually decided. If there is a conflict in arriving at an agreement, the organizers will decide the location of the court and that decision would be final
- b. Warm-up time is maximum of 10 mins
- c. The toss is made by spinning the racquet. Winner of the toss can decide 1 to server first or 2 choose a side
- d. In the event of rain or unplayable weather conditions on the scheduled time of play, a partial set will be used in determining the winner only if one player has won the first set and is leading the second set by two games. If this condition does not exist, the match will be rescheduled with play beginning from the last point played. Both players should write down the score at that time so there are no questions about the score when the match is resumed. If you reschedule an unfinished match, a tiebreaker is still played to determine the match when players split sets.
SCHEDULING, SUBSTITUTION, WITHDRAWALS AND NO SHOWS
- 1.Matches are to be scheduled with mutual consent of place and time
- 2.All official communications from NATS sport committee will be via email.
- 3.All communications related to scheduling between players can be Text/WhatsApp or email. However, it is the responsibility of initiating player to make sure the opponent has received his communication. If a player doesn’t respond to another player’s request within 2 days, it would be considered as default and the requesting player will be moved ahead to the next round.
-
4.Player with * next to his name in the draws sheet is responsible to initiate a request for the match time and place. However, the initiation can be from the other player as well.
- a. If two players or two teams cannot agree possible time slots before target date for their matches, both players or teams will be considered as drop-outs
- b. If one player has initiated the request with three reasonable time slots and place, and the other player doesn’t agree to any of the requested time slots, the initiating player will move ahead to the next round
- c. Any scheduling conflicts can be brought to organizers’ attention and the organizers will make an attempt to resolve amicably. If there is no agreeable solution, organizers’ decision will be final.
5.After scheduling a match, if any player or team is delayed by more than 15 mins, it will be considered as “No Show”
6. In any situation which results in unavailability of any player(s), substitutions or replacements are not allowed.
7. The selection of players into the final tournament schedule is at the sole discretion of the organizing committee.
8. The semifinals and finals of both formats will be conducted in courts designated by the organizing committee. The specific location and court will be notified to the semi finalists and finalists before the scheduled date.
DISPUTES AND DISAGREEMENTS
Tennis is always regarded as a gentleman’s sport. So, we expect that the disputes and disagreements are minimal, if not none. If there are to be any disputes and disagreements such as line calls, please follow the “MAKING CALLS” section in this Code - - THE CODE The Players' Guide to Fair Play and the Unwritten Rules of TennisTwo simple rules: 1) It’s always the receiver's call and 2) If the receiver consents, replay the point.
